About the Project — Typography Play by Sukanya Misal
Sukanya set out to create something playful, raw, and delightfully retro—a design that doesn’t just use the fonts, but revolves around them. Since both assigned fonts belonged to a similar niche, she avoided the usual heading–subheading formula. Instead, she transformed the fonts into the central creative force of the entire concept.
Coming from a non-design background, this project was her chance to experiment boldly with typography. She explored unique type treatments, tested multiple pairings, and pushed herself to see how far she could stretch the fonts as expressive visual elements.
Design Approach
Typography as the Hero
Rather than treating the fonts as static components, Sukanya built the entire visual identity around them. The result is a cohesive branding-and-poster system where typography takes center stage.
Playful, Bright & Retro Aesthetic
The design language embraces a fun, vibrant retro tone. The colours—bright, energetic, and intentionally nostalgic—support the playful mood while keeping the visuals consistent and engaging.
Branding + Poster Series
To apply the typography in multiple contexts, Sukanya designed:
A mini brand identity, including a simple custom logo
A product presentation, showcasing how the identity lives in real use
A poster, functioning as an advertisement for the same product
This multi-format approach keeps the narrative focused on one idea, while displaying the fonts across different design outputs.
